On the Go

I tell ya I've been a busy bee. Not in the creating sense but just on the go.
Back on Wednesday the 27th of February I went to Pokeno with the girls I used to work with at Watkins MS. We only meet once a month and we always have to catch up to see how every ones kids are and whats new. The hostess feeds us and then the games begin. I guess one day I need to take a picture of the gang. I'm sure our friend Cheryl P. in Missouri would like to see how we're all holding up. I wasn't a winner that night. Pokeno is like Bingo but played with a deck of cards. I have about 4 lines short of one card.

Then Thursday nite I headed to Book Club. We read a book called Last Chance to See by Douglas Adams with his zoologist friend Mark Carwardine.

They traveled around the world to document animals that are becoming extinct.
They only made people aware they themselves didn't form a plan to save the animal.
It wasn't an easy task since they were met with opposition from most of the countries. The countries feared being exploited and destroyed. I was hesitate to read since that's not the kind of book I cared to read but Douglas Adams used his humor to make the book easy to read. Take a chance and read for yourself. Everyone present enjoyed the book. Our hostess was Gaye. She's in the front.

After a long week at work and my two events I was exhausted and fell asleep by 9ish. But that was a good thing since I got up Saturday and headed to the Tri County Quilt Show where I took pictures all day long. Another exhausting but very awesome day and show.

Now I was very determined to win the bird house that my friend Janet won but oh no not with my luck....

Nope but Bankie our previous

guild president did.  I don't think she was very excited do you? Lucky duck.

Then there was the Raffle quilt that I really would have liked to win but again Lady Luck wasn't on my side but it was on Charmaine's. She couldn't believe when they called her name. She's sew cute.

Here she is with her Raffle Quilt that she'll be finding a place
for in her home.

There were plenty of vendors to shop and lots of quilts to see at the show and LOTS of people.

Here's a few pictures of other quilts from the show.
Row of Seasons. Look at the bunnies. Aren't they cute?

This was a self portrait of the quilter.

Do you see the resemblance?
And check out this quilt by Pam Barman. I couldn't catch the sparkle but it sparkled.

If you'd like to see all the pictures from the show click HERE

Came home exhausted. We went out to eat and I was in bed by 8:30.
Got up on Sunday the 2nd ate breakfast and did some things around the house. Around 3 we headed up to Bryan to take Pamela out to an early dinner  and celebrate with her for her birthday. She was so excited when David gave her a very special birthday gift!
Oh yes nothing but the best for his daughter......................................

Not sure what you're looking at?
Well he bought her an ice scrapper. We were expecting more ice and possible snow by Tuesday. LOL
This is a good place to stop for this post.  But there will be more celebrating so stay tuned.

Until Next Blog.... Enjoy your day

A Very Important Day

My Baby is having a birthday. It's hard to imagine that David and I welcomed our baby girl to this world 27 years ago. Damn that means I'll get a year older in 3 more days. Oh man.

She's our pride and joy.

She was daddy's little helper when getting ready for a race.

We shared that first birthday. She never sat down. She loved being the center of attention.

She was our little stinker for Halloween

She's been a little devil at times.
She was one proud Aggie to get that fighting Texas Aggie Ring.  Her Dad was pretty proud too.

She celebrated her 21st birthday with friends. Her old roommate Richard in this picture. They've been friends since birth. We came up after the party ... but she was under the weather a bit. Not sure she might have been there in this picture. LOL

We watched her graduate from High School then from College for her to go back to school and get a nursing degree. And she's back in school again to further that degree.

Nope there's no way she can be 27 but I guess she is. There's more to see and share with this girl and we don't want to miss a minute of it.

She's got a temper, impatient at times but she's kind hearted, loving, tender, funny, and she's ours. Whether she likes it or not.

We Love you Pamela. Have a HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Some People, Some Music and Babies

Well I have this co-worker who is thinking he wants to move and asked me if I knew a reliable Realtor. Well of course I gave him my friend Barbara's card and said she's older than dirt and she knows her stuff backwards and forwards. I mean she's been in the business 30+ years. She'll be beside you every step of the way. Oops did I say older than dirt and did I mention that the co-worker imitates my laugh and gives me a bad time every chance he gets.
And to think I put these two together. And Roland looks so sweet and innocent but the devil is sitting on his shoulder.Boy was that a mistake.
A couple of weeks ago Barbara sent me this email that she thought she had some how offended Roland because by the end of the day of looking at houses he became less talkative and almost cold. These two had conspired and made up this story to see what I'd do.
And would you look at this...She too has a little devil on her shoulder
Well their little prank back fired because before I ever read the email Roland blew his cover. LOL  Then Then he tells Barbara that he can imitate my laugh and Barbara had to admit it sounded like me. I may never laugh again...  And to think I call these two bRats my friend. LOL

Ahhh finally we get to thaw out. Winter in Houston has been it's usual bi-polar self. Mother Nature needs to adjust her meds.  And now they're talking about the temps dropping into the 30's this Wednesday evening. Ahh come on I'm enjoying the 70 temps. Plants and trees are starting to bud. In fact some trees have already started flowering.

Last Wednesday David and I went to Puffabelly's to check out Davin Jame's guest musician ~ Larry Joe Taylor.
It was a great show. Davin goes to Stephensville a couple of times a year to play in Larry Joe's festival and after Wednesday I'd like to go at least once so it's on our agenda of things to do.

Twinkle, twinkle tiny light,
little eyes that shine so bright,
a precious baby from heaven above,
fills our hearts with so much love

Now this must have been Baby Weekend. My Co-worker Ashley had her baby girl Saturday. Aria made her grand entrance 6 weeks early. Yep 6 weeks but no preemie clothes for this little darling. They said if she'd delivered full term Aria probably would have weighted closer to 11 lbs. Wow.

Here's Mom and Baby not long after delivery. It's a mini Ashley! She also has mom's long fingers and toes. ;o) I wonder if she'll have Ashley's Betty Boop lips? Time will tell.

Since Aria is premature they had to put her in NICU to help control her body temperature and help her breath until her lungs develop. She's improving each day in great strides.
She's a feisty little thing outside the womb too.
Sometimes for entertainment wee'd sit at lunch time and watch Ashley's stomach for movement. Ashley would put her phone on her stomach and Aria would kick it off.

Ahh finally yesterday Momma and Daddy got to hold their baby girl. And today she is down to one tube. YAY

One of Pamela's high school friends had her baby on Saturday and 2 of her friends from College Station/Bryan had theirs. These babies were running late unlike Aria who was ready to greet the world early.  Babies Babies everywhere.

If you're in the Houston/Cypress Area come on out to the Berry Center on Barker Cypress to the Best Little Big Quilt show in town. Tri County Quilt Guild is having their 3rd Quilt Show Friday the 28th and Saturday March 1st. We have lots of talent in our guild and there will be around 180 quilts hanging to show off that talent plus lots of vendors. If you have a quilt that Aunt Betsy left or gave you and have wondered what it's worth send me a message and I'll set up an appointment for you. It only cost $40.
There's all kinds of eye candy to see, touch and buy. Don't miss it!

From One Extreme to Another

Extreme is for how busy last weekend was and how slow this one was. And the same for weather. We were in the 30's and below freezing and now, now we're in the 50's for evening lows and day highs in the 70's. I like the 70's.

Pamela came home last Thursday for her best friend from elementary school's wedding that happened last Saturday.. It seems like every time I turned around she was doing something with or for Marlaina.
I'm so glad these girls have remained friends but I tell ya it's really hard thinking of these girls being old enough to get married. I'm remember all the sleep overs, girl scouts and school events. The girl on the far right is the bride back in 1998 as a 5th grader. That's Pamela on the back row in blue. St Rose Of Lima 5th grade class 1998.
Grrr that means I guess I'm getting older too. mmmm  Thursday night was family night but Friday she was off to join the girls for manicures and that evening was the rehearsal and dinner.

Saturday she was off early to get her hair done and it really turned out pretty. We met up at 12:30 to head to wedding venue....Chateau Polonez.

What a beautiful place for a wedding. I wish there had been more time to explore the outside grounds but on with the wedding.
Of course the bride was more beautiful.

Marlaina and her Mom.

It was a beautiful evening.

Took time to capture pictures of the family. We clean up pretty well if I say so myself.

I would have been happy if my hair had stayed curled but it is what it is. I had to wear a sweater that evening since the dress was sleeveless.

David bought me my dress a couple of years ago
for Christmas. He has good taste.

Of course our daughter is beautiful. Then as I've said before I'm prejudice.

I was able to capture a picture of the Bride and Groom with Pamela.

I wish the best for Josh and Marlaina for many years to come. I hope they're as happy years from now as they are today.
This weekend was quiet.  No rushing around with multiply activities and no weddings but that also means that Pamela isn't home. There's always a flurry of activity when she's around.

While we were at the wedding a big box arrived at the house from my friend Donna at Donna's Lavender Nest. She had finished quilting two quilts for me.  I was so excited. They look awesome. Sorry no pictures yet.I'm a step closer to putting them in the mail to their intended recipients and at that time I'll be able to post pictures. Don't want to spoil the surprise. So that's what I've been working on this weekend. I had to cut lots of binding strips. My friend Donna V. told me of a neat way she found on Pinterest to bind a quilt called Sue's Magic Binding.
I actually sat down this week and felt like reading and have read about 60% of a book. This is the most I've read in over a year.

Well I guess I better get back to the binding for the quilts or I'll never finish.

So until the Blog post..Life is a Patchwork of Memories

Upside Down

Friday was a good but yet messed up day. It was a busy day as always but our director came to my bosses office and started telling her that they were going to my co-worker across the street to be under a different manager. The whole time he's talking my co-worker goes I didn't know anything about this.... Can we say communication? She wasn't clueless because there had been talk but she didn't know that anything had been decided. It kinda flipped the day upside down. While it's a good move possibly for my co-worker Nancy it sure surprised us and made us sad. It will make it different without Nancy there to ask questions or just talk with. Never a dull moment in technology.
Then there was today. David got the call yesterday that Mustang Sally was ready. So we got up and went to the repair shop. I dropped him off and headed back to the house. I made a couple of stops before getting home. My first stop was an important one... Gas... LOL okay not so important to this post but then I stopped at one of my favorite quilt shops in Tomball.  Quilters Crossing isn't a huge shop but it is packed with color and it has a nice size classroom in a separate building next to the shop. I went in looking for a couple of certain fabrics that while I didn't find them I did settle for 3 others. Haha I didn't settle for anything I was very happy with my choices. And Yes I do have a purpose for them.

Anyway after a quick stop at the shop I headed home. I did some laundry and then grabbed Dexter to take him to the groomers. He was a mess and stinky. I have a hard time trying to brush him without losing fingers or my hand. I warned the groomers that he's pretty snappy with sharp teeth. They looked at little guy and said it was possible that they might need to click/shave him to get him back in shape.... ;o( Hope not I said

Now back to David. Before Dexter and I got out of the door David called.  He got half way home in his little Hot rod to have it die. He said it was like someone reached over and turned the ignition off. Uhhh that's not suppose to happen when you just picked it up from the shop. Okay this sucks. So I had to pick up David
and the shop sent a wrecker to pick up the car. Another upside down moment/day. David was all ready to have Mustang Sally home. Let's Cross our fingers we'll get it back next Saturday.

Got the phone call that Dexter was ready so off I went.
My poor little boy they had to shave him. Yikes the weather is changing to cooler again so I need to put his coat back on. I thought he had gained some weight but with out all his fur. Oh my he's skinny. Oh and the groomer told me that Dexter would need to tranquilized before she'll try to handle him again. He was very pissed every time she tried to brush him.
Welcome to my world. I guess I'll talk to the vet next we go in about
giving Dexter something to calm him down.
Poor Guy. I put on his sweater and put him on our bed and he was out. He knows what pillows are for.  Later that night I had to cover him us because he was shivering. This was Dexter's upside down kinda day.

So everyone tells me if I make a list of the things I want to Accomplish which by the way should be my word for 2014 that I need to make a list. So here it is.

With a list like this I need to get busy. I'm hoping to make better progress this year and stop procrastinating. My list is in no specific order it's just a list that I hope to make a dent in.

Well until next blog....All people have the right to stupidity but some abuse the privilege.
