A few going on's

On the 14th I went into Bryan to spend the night with Pamela. I drove her to do a couple of drop offs while I sat in the car and back to her house to rest while we waited for her babies to get out of grooming.  Lilley didn't come in this time.  Aren't they cute. Brianna is leaning like she's drunk or half asleep.  Sophie is sitting like a sweet girl. That evening Pamela & I went to dinner then came home and had some wine while watching Wonder Woman 1984.  It was pretty good. Well, I liked it, anyway. Got up Friday to go pick up groceries at HEB and Pamela took off to have lunch with friends. What a day. I went to HEB grabbed my groceries, refused one of the substitutes, and then headed to Petsmart for a curbside pickup.  While sitting there I get a call from HEB they forgot to put a bag in the car. I would have said shelf it and don't charge me but I needed the frozen veggies for dinner that night. So back to HEB.  Got my bag then headed to Wal-Mart for curbside. I couldn't get everything at HEB. Finally I can head home sort of.  I had to make a quick stop in Hearne Brookshire brothers for 2 things that I didn't get in Bryan. Geeze. Gotta Love Curbside.  I get home and David unloads my car while I start putting things away. Less walking on the stupid knee. That's when I discover that HEB didn't  bag 2 other items. Really!! I had to call them to make sure they gave me credit for the items I did not receive and the substitution I refused. Never had this kind of problem with curbside.  Speaking of curbside I need to place another order.Friday evening (1/15) I tried my hand at making Chicken pot pie. I had boiled a chicken the day before. I took some of it to make jalapeno chicken salad for Pamela and some for us.The rest went to my tasty pot pie.
Before you ask I did not make the crust. I used Pillsbury Pie crust. You'll find them near the canned biscuits. I left it out to come to room temperature. I sprayed my skilled and layed 1 crust in the bottom and kinda pressed it up the sides. The rest was easy thanks to Ross H. sharing his recipe of throwing things together. I did the same, no measuring. I grabbed a mixing bowl and threw in a pile of chopped up chicken, almost a whole bag of frozen mixed veggies, I added a small amount of grilled chopped onions. I used 2 cans of cream of chicken then added my homemade chicken broth  to thin it to my likings, and added some seasoning called 'Chicken Shit'. Mixed it all up and poured into the crust. I took the 2nd crust and laid it on top of the skillet. Pinched the sides down into the skillet. I whipped up an egg and brushed it on top to help get that golden brown look then threw it in a preheated oven @   and cooked for
Now that Pamela has her new furniture I tossed her quilt over the couch. Furniture is great and the quilt looks good on it, even I do say so myself.
Went to my Heart Rhythm doctor and told him about the weird hot flashes I've been having and how it makes me dizzy, sick and want to pass out and how I had narrowed down the only culprit left and that was the Eliquis I started taking after the pacemaker was inserted. He laughed and said if I had told him a week sooner he would have been skeptical because side effects in Eliquis has been almost non existent but that last week he had a guy complaining about some things he was dealing with. Well they took him off Eliquis and in 3-5 days the issues disappeared. So on Tuesday the 26th I took my last Eliquis and 3 days later I haven't experienced but a small hot flash.  Add 2 more days and I haven't had any so it looks like he'll move changing me to Xarelto. Now if my knee would cooperate and let me walk normal again without pain I'd be a happy camper.  I'll see what the Ortho Doc has to say next week. Geez no fun being me. But I keep trying.Well January is ending and I've hopefully solved one issue.. Maybe February will be the magic month to being healthy again.  Until next post...May your bobbin always be full!

WE GOT SNOW.

Sunday (1/10) it snowed. I mean really snowed. I thought I was back in Missouri. It didn't stop until about 5-5:30pm. Heard on the news Gause got 7.8" of snow. WOW! We go from rain and high water to snow.  Here's some photos or this rare event....

Pamela was at work but everyone was taking turns going out to take selfies in the snow fall.

Not something southwest Texas sees every day. Everyone acts like a kid including us.

The mini Mansion - shed looks good in snow.

The native pecan tree looks so pretty.

The snow was blowing from every direction.  It blew under the patio cover and covered the table and chairs.

I don't think we'll be having a fire in the pit or sitting in those chairs.
The front entrance to the sidewalk looks good in the snow.

The Rock'n K was a winter wonderland.  It's starting to melt now but the backyard still has a lot still. And our little tree in front was so loaded with ice and snow it's was touching the ground. Today it's about halfway to the ground.  David is gonna go stake it up when things dry up some.

Our hay bales look like major frosted shredded wheat. I remember the first time I heard that was in Missouri when Pamela spotted some on the road and said look frosted mini wheats. LOL
Lilley refused to go in the snow.  She accidently went bouncing out that morning and stopped in her tracks and was like 'WTH.' LOL. I did everything I could to get her to come out but she said no no no.
Compliments of David was a sunrise picture the day after the big snow. My butt was still snug as a bug in bed.  He and Lilley were up at sunrise.
Knee update after chicken fat shot. I'm not having pain 99% of the time when I lay down in bed each evening and I'm not taking pain pills during the day.  Every now and then I'll take extra strength Tylenol to take the edge of the throbbing. They said I'd see improvement in 3-5.  I took 7.  Now if I could only walk... Still limping and using the crutch when I have to and want to walk easily.   Next doctor visit is in February.  We'll see then.
The white stuff is melting and making a muddy mess everywhere but it was fun while it lasted and I got to enjoy from inside the house.
Told you this would be a white tale of fluff.

That's it for now.
Until next blog...·        Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine. ...

Here we go

What a nice start to the year. Farm fresh eggs from the Harper Farm.. In the picture they look almost the same size but one closest to red salt pepper salt shaker is much bigger and it was a double yolker. Farm eggs tend to be richer in color.

On January 2nd I grabbed a basket that was filled with goodies from our friends the Kennedy's. Everything was so tasty. It has Chex mix, Candied pecans, jalapeno' pepper jelly, Strawberry/Guava pancake mix and homemade wine/sangria. that Pamela and I finished off the day after Christmas..  I took Kelli & John some jam/brie cheese tarts.  We share a chicken with them. A teaser so they'll buy some farm raised chickens. All chicken and no water injected like the ones you get at the store.

For the last 15 days Pamela didn't have a couch so she brought out the dog bed to see if the girls would use it.  It's been a funny journey.  First they laid next to it, then maybe drapped a paw other it, and played around and ran through it but on this day Sophie and Bri laid half in it playing.
On the 5th I went down to accept her furniture while she worked. It's really nice and comfy. I got to sit on it before she did. LOL
I couldn't move things around but I had the delivery guys set it up where it needed to be and got a picture of her Christmas Aggie Quilt on it. LOL

On Wednesday the 6th We got rain. Lots of it. And the craziest thing is Hwy 79 in downtown Gause.  Thanks to a neighbor Tammy Neal shared her pictures. There's no lake, pond or river close by. Just a low spot apparently.

See the white truck coming over the railroad tracks. The water didn't make into the buildings or up to the tracks and as you can see cars did make it through.

But in May 2004 water went into the buildings and up to the top of the tracks. That hill to the tracks kept the houses on the other side from flooding.  Seems so crazy.

Thanks again Tammy for sharing the pictures and history.

Maybe it was the weather I don't know but this little brat woke David up at 4:30 am to go potty and was ready for breakfast. Then she was ready to come get back in bed with me. Only at 7:30 I got up to have my coffee on the couch and she jumped up there to get comfy and go back to sleep. Look at that face. She rules..
This is gonna be a shorter blog today because the next one will be filled with white fluffy stuff. LOL

Until next blog....  “Blessed are those who can give without remembering and take without forgetting” ~ Elizabeth Bibesco

Happy New Year! 2021 is here

Hey we made it safely into 2021 but I'm gonna finish up 2020 last happenings.

On Wednesday the 30th I went to Houston to have lunch with my Godchild who drove down from Indiana with her husband to spend Christmas with her family.  It was great seeing her. Her mom (my sorority sister from college) and her Abuela joined Pamela and I at Union Kitchen in the Town Lakes complex.

The food was great and company even better. We had to take pictures of course. We were looking directly into the sun but we wanted the tree and the water in the background instead of a restaurant and people. LOL

There were pictures taken of Gigi, Michelle and Ms Salazar but it was taken on Michelle's phone I guess. I'll have to ask for a copy to save.    Just as we started walking or me hobbling to our cars it started to sprinkle. Great timing. Michelle is very photogenic. Such a beautiful girl and smile. Of course I think my kid is pretty cute.

Pamela and I headed to my doctors appointment with the orthopaedic for a shot of chicken fat in my knee. As we drove down the Grand Parkway and Alert on our phones went off. Holy crap. It scared us to death. Pamela almost hit me she jumped so hard. It was an alert for Houston to not celebrate the new year. Stay home etcetera etcetera. Covid is serging there in many areas. But it's okay to scare people driving to almost having a wreck.

Checked into the doctors office and had to wait. They were running behind. They called me back about 30 minutes after my appointment but it was quick after that. They prepped my knee with freeze spray and then a shot for numbing. Hmmm neither one was overly numbing.  Next came the chicken fat shot. It didn't really hurt but was very uncomfortable. It made the knee feel really weird but it's done. Now to wait 3-5 days to see if I start feeling any relief and be able to walk normal.  Should give me relief for 3-6 months. Everyone is different.

After this we headed to Tomball to go see my Brother and Sister in law in their big bus. But first I needed to take some pictures of the quilt I finished for her.  She had given me all her Mom's stash when she passed. Her mom had even cut out a Sun Bonnet Sue to applique so it became part of the quilt.. I couldn't not make a memory quilt for Lynn.
I hadn't gotten to taken any pictures of the quilt because of my knee and now the weather but we got a break in the rain and I got a couple.
It's a scrappy quilt with no real pattern and Donna's Lavender Nest did the quilting. And I was able to make a label with my new embroidery machine and a special note on the Sun Bonnet Sue applique..

Their motorhome was really nice. We got there and the sky opened up with a downpour so we hung out for while just talking.   Lynn seemed to truly like the quilt. I'm glad.

I also finished an Aggie Christmas quilt for Pamela to use on her couch. LOL. Only she don't have a couch. Back on the 15th she purchased a new couch and chair and asked me to take pictures of her sectional and post it wherever I post mine. Well I posted it on FB market place that night and she started getting inquiries. A lady came the next night, gave Pamela a deposit and came back on Saturday to pay the balance and pick up the couch. OOPs. Pamela was thinking the couch would be there that week. Nope. Delivery is scheduled for 1/5. LOL so she has her one arm chair set up to sit and watch TV.

So I draped the quilt over the chair. No pictures outside. It was raining again.  Donna at Donna's Lavender Nest did another cute quilting job on it. I love the twinkling snow flake theme. I embroidered the label so that after being washed it won't wash away after a while.
Thursday the 31st David and I had plans with our college friends/my sorority sisters to hang out for a while. The goal was to leave before midnight to get home before any drunks hit the road. Thank goodness there weren't actually many on the road going up to Groesbeck or coming home. Our hosts were Ross and Sheryl.  We were missing our sister Gigi and her husband Tim but they were entertaining their family this year. They missed the awesome chicken pot pie and chicken chili that Ross made. Oh and the Apple Pie moonshine.  I only had a bite to eat and a shot of the moonshine. But Ross share a jar of it and I hope to drink some soon and I mean more than a shot. I might have to fight David for it because he really liked it too.  It was great seeing our good friends of all these years. We took some pictures but we're missing Gigi and the boys were so funny.

Boys will be boys. LOL

We were enjoying ourselves so much that instead of leaving by 10:30 it was 11:50. Oops.
So we wished each other a Happy New Year in the car. And so ends 2020.

I hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year

We'll see if 2021 is better than 2020. Are you ready.... Let's go.
