Fun Over.. Wait we're retired so not really. LOL

June 13.. Where is home? Well it's wherever we hang our hat and that's at the Rock'n K. Not sorry one bit that we moved to the country.

This day we woke up, packed and checked out. There's nothing to do in Sisterdale but that's okay. We went into Fredericksburg for some breakfast. All we wanted was some kolaches or donuts and we found them. From Fredericksburg we headed north on Hwy 16 to catch Hwy 29 into Georgetown. David wanted to see the square. So we drove around the square.  I hear it's great to see during the holidays with all the decorations so we'll come back. We really didn't want a big lunch and we didn't really want to drink any more wine at the time so we kept driving toward home.

We stopped at our home to unload and rest for a bit before we drove on into Bryan to Pamela's to pick up our furry floof, Lilley. It was weird being in the house and her not come greet us.

What a mess?! We drove to Pamela's and went out for some Mexican Food. The first restaurant choice Casa Rodriguez was already closed. They closed at 3pm on Sunday. Who does that? Obviously they do. So next we headed to Cilantro's.. We walk in and it's really warm. The hostess tells us their AC is broke. Uh No. Someone is trying to tell us something. LOL Our 3rd choice was Mas Fajita's. A girls softball team walked in right before us. 40 of them. We were looking at a 20-30 minute wait. Not gonna happen. Our 4th choice was a success.... Lupe Tortilla's. No wait and the food was really good.

So the fun is over. Well not really because we don't have to go to work Monday morning. Thank God.

June 14.. My dream Job.. the one I didn't have. LOL I think would have been a photographer. I love taking pictures but I definitely wasn't good enough to be a professional. Sometimes I get lucky with a shot. And lately I'm bad about even taking pictures.

Yahoo I finally got the correct fabric to make a quilt for my nephew and niece for the bun in the oven. Got to get busy. Shower is coming up quick. I mean ordered the right fabric on the 3rd but I got 4 yards of plain tan fabric instead of the 2 yards of a novelty print on the 5th. But re-ordering the fabric took 8 days instead of 3 like the first time I ordered.

June 15..Favorite things in my town... well considering it's  literally a wide spot in the road everything. We have a beautiful home, view, great neighbors and have met many new friends up here in the country.

June 16..Reasons to feel happy. Best one for me today is I'm getting this wire out of my leg and rid of the little battery pack. It's supposed to give me at least 2 years pain free. And so far it's done great but the knee still tends to give out and gets stiff but it's better than a level 8-10 pain.

Another lie. The PA says it won't hurt. LIE! It was like being pinched hard continuously. David held my hand as the PA pulled out the wire. I was thinking the wire was only a few inches long but oh no it was over 12" long of a curly gossamer wire. I still limp and sometimes I don't trust my balance but the PT and going to the gym is helping but not fast enough.

The doctors office is just a few miles away from my Mom and Joe's so we went by to visit for a while. Mom was having a decent day.  Joe and David solved the world's problems. LOL

It was a good visit.

June 17.. Words I need to share.. mmmm Would everyone just get a long or agree to disagree.

June 18.. Something to give up... some weight LOL  I have been eating less food. The A1C came down but the weight hasn't left yet. And all my other blood work numbers are now in the normal range. No lows or highs. YAY! I'm hoping by going to the gym now that will start helping more. I know I still need to eat better.

June 19.. An area to grow in.. be more active, stop procrastinating. Can I do this after all these years..???

June 20.. An exceptional skill I possess? Really? I don't know that I have one. LOL okay the questions are getting harder for me now.

Today was all about David. Pamela and I are treating him to a day of relaxation, beer, food, laughs and us. Each year we're gonna try to take him to new places but sometime we'll need to go back to Axis winery. David loves their wine slushy.

So on this day we headed to Savage Brew Lab. Pretty neat place for a beer and hanging with friends and family. We had BBQ from Originz BBQ truck at Savage. Pretty tasty.

They have vegetable growing in arches and raised containers.

We sat outside under the trees. Is anyone else out there in blog land experiencing excessive flies?

They are bad here in Brazos and Miliam Counties for sure. We had a fly catching contest in an empty cup.  David won, He caught 5 at once. LOL I know we're sad.

After this we headed to Blackwater Draw Brewing Co. Another fun place to hang out. This place had bigger area for inside seating and it was getting warmer outside. We sat under the big ass fan. We each tried a couple different beers. Pamela was entertaining us and her Dad wasn't buying the story she was telling us by the look on his face here. LOLOur last and finally stop of the day the Dixie Chicken where they had more beer and I got ice tea.
More stories and laughs till it was time to eat supper before heading back to our respectful homes. The fur babies will be getting hungry too. David did not get the Death Burger that he loves, this time he got a cheese burger with mustard. LOL Another successful Father's Day treat to the man in our lives that deserves special treatment at least a couple times a year and the rest of the time it's about us (Pamela & Me).  Just kidding.

June 21.. What motivates me? mmm Money, Love. Food, Fabric.
June 22.. What do I need?  Not a darn thing really. Well two good legs.
June 23.. A way I relax... Is sew. Unless the quilt pattern is frustrating or I keep messing it up. And I like to listen to Audible books or read a book.
June 24.. The Person I'm currently grateful for.. is my husband. I've said this before but he is a great nurse. He's had to take care of me after both heart procedures last year and now he has to put up with me limping around and making sure I'm okay. David keeps the Rock'n K going and me. I can frustrate the hell out of him but he's still my rock.
June 25.. The song I know all the lyrics to.. none. unless you count Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. LOL

This night was date night. Gary P Nunn was playing at the Sons of Hermann Hall in Deansville. It was about 23 miles away. Pretty cool old place. He was the first headliner that they've had in 50 something years. It was 1960 something with Loretta Lynn, George Jones and I forgot the 3rd person. Pretty cool bit of history we thought.
The acoustics were good. We met some other people at the table across from us who were also from Gause.
The dance floor was never empty.

Oh here... David is so good ...
Inside this Sack of Shit is Special Shit... It's a good chicken seasoning. LOL. He's so good to me.

Well that's it for now. My next post might have lots of photos so I'll end with the Sack of Shit.

Until then... Much of what life hands us comes without prelude of fear and worry. Our fears don’t stop death, they stop life.    ~  Elizabeth Kubler-Ross and David Kessler

Rolling down the Road...

 Continuing with my daily prompts.....

June 8.. My best qualities. Mmm, I'm not good at answering this kind of question. I'm told I'm caring, nice and a good listener. I hope they're right. I try.

I was hoping today would bring some fabric I ordered for the 2nd time.  I ordered 2 yards of a print fabric the first time back on the 3rd and it arrived on the 5th. I was so excited and then I opened the package. Inside was 4 yard of solid tan fabric. What the hell! So I got with the company and they refunded me and told me to keep the tan fabric that I don't need and I would have to re-order the fabric I wanted which I did on the 6th.... So since it took basically 2 days the first time I figured this time would be no different. Boy was I wrong. I wanted the fabric so I could find some coordinating fabric at one of the shops David found for me to go to on our trip.  It didn't show up. I called the company I ordered from and they said if I didn't hear or see my fabric by Monday the 14th to call them. Grrrr!

June 9.. My top priorities.. I Like to think my family, friends and health. My husband tells me my quilting is my top priority. It's important to me but not really my priority. I just have lots of projects.

First off today I had a hair appointment. I needed a trim to shape up my hair and touch up of my low lights. I have plenty of high lights naturally. I'm trying to embrace the grey slowing.  Later I took Lilley down to Pamela's so she could watch her while David and I take a trip of our own. We haven't gone anywhere together for more than a day. And some of those trips were to the doctors offices. Now that's excitement at it's highest. LOL.  Almost every June David and I head to Luckenbach for the Thomas Michael Riley Music Festival. They did have something in June 2020 but we stayed home but this year we're going. Sad part is none of our friends are able to go this year. Bummer.

And while David and I are packing to leave Pamela drove into Houston to visit with my niece, her cousin Shelby and her man Adam, While they were out Pamela's really good friend from high school Cole came out and joined them.

June 10.. mmm a new thing to try. Well Using these blog prompts is something new. I haven't decided if I like it or not but I'll try it every month or so until I decide I'm tired of it.

We pulled out of the drive way about 9:20 or so. We were going a new route to check out some different towns and things to do. Our first stop was in Comanche, TX and had lunch at the Comanche City Café. We both got the ground steak lunch special. It was the perfect size and it was very tasty.. Once we finished up we walked (I hobbled) down the street to look in a couple antique stores. David scored some goodies in the first store. He bought a book a James Michener called Texas that he thought would look good on our coffee table and several old cd's that he didn't have.

At the 2nd store we found a bird house we both liked to put over my kitchen cabinets. I have a collection of birdhouses up there and around the house. We really liked this house but it took us a minute to figure out how the bird was to get in or was it just for décor like I'm going to use it.  LOL

The ladies in the shops were really nice and shared information about the town with David while I was still browsing.

As we were headed out of town he saw a winery called Brennan and we stopped for a tasting. The young lady Savannah set up our tastings, told us about each wine we chose. She was fun and friendly. We talked about the town, her school Tarleton about 40 minutes down the road, and the winery in Fredericksburg her Dad worked at called Texas Wine Collective. It used to be called 4.0.  She showed us a silly picture of her Dad so we would recognize him if we made to the winery he worked at. Of course her Dad would have killed her had he known what picture she showed us.  From here we headed to San Saba where we would stay the night at a B&B called Auntie M's.  I had to borrow her pictures because I didn't take any but here's where we stayed and our room was called The Blue Bonnet Room.

Before checking in we went to The Wedding Oak Winery and had a tasting. Again more friendly and helpful ladies named Belle & Melissa. They were fun. At one point this group of ladies in the front seating area we cracking up laughing and Belle (our server) said "I think we need to cut them off" and started laughing. Of course she was kidding. She said they were a book club. Oh really I thought. Okay so I had to know what book they were discussing so I walked over and asked. Well in actuality they weren't discussing a book at all but they did love to read. They just told people they were having a book club meeting being silly. They were a group of ladies who like to drink wine and have a good time.  Their reason for gathering sounded like something we used to say after school saying we were going to choir practice so none of the students would know we were going to meet for adult beverages somewhere.  I talked with these ladies for about 20 minutes and sharing books. I left David at the bar talking to one of our servers and buying our bottles of wine.  They told us of two of places we might like to try for dinner,  The Pecan House Grill or Diggs. We checked in and then drove around the town to see what we could see. As we were driving down one street I said to go straight to see the park where I could see people swimming and a waterfall. It was so pretty. Apparently there were 2 such parks with natural spring feed pools.  Isn't it beautiful?

One of David's former co-workers had suggested to eat at Diggs so that's where we went after driving around the streets of San Saba.

And while David and I are gone Pamela drove to Calvert up by our place to meet up with my God-daughter Michelle. Gigi, Michelle's mom and Pamela's God-mother was there too And so was Michelle's Abuela (grandmother). They met at Farmer to Market Coffee Shop.  Michelle was in town visiting her parents and old friends and it worked out that she could meet up with Pamela too. Aren't they pretty?

June 11...Where was I a year ago... ha.. pretty much at home at the Rock'n K. Things were just beginning to open up from the pandemic and I was canning tomato's in some form or another. LOL

We wake up to a yummy smell coming from the kitchen at Auntie M's. The owner cooked up breakfast with fruit, scrambled eggs, has browns, sausage, bacon, biscuits, fruit juice.  I'm forgetting something but it was so good and the owner sat there and talked with us. She told us about San Saba, about buying the B&B, the why's and how. Great lady. I wouldn't mind going back and staying in a different room for fun. After breakfast it was time to hit the road and head toward Fredericksburg but first we'll make some stops in Llano at 2 different quilt shops and some antique stores. David looked up quilts shops for me to visit. He's so sweet and thoughtful.  Never know what we'll find.

Just outside Fredericksburg on Hwy 16 we stopped at Pecan Grove Historic Bar with vintage bikes. We didn't try their food but we had some beers.

From here we headed into Sisterdale to find our Airbnb for the next couple of nights. Too bad we hadn't stayed here before to see how they set it up so we could have taken cues on how to set up our Mini Mansion back before the house at the Rock'n K was built. Of which the mini mansion became storage.

Anyway our place in Sisterdale was comfy and a straight drive in from Luckenbach where we'll be going to listen to music at the TMR Music Festival.  It was set up efficiently and cute. But we had to laugh because the TV was like a 14" computer monitor.

It's hard to tell how small it was by my picture but....it's small.

As the evening approached we decided to pack it in for the night but first we decided to drive down the road to Black Board Bar B Q. We weren't real hungry but needed a little of something so we thought we'd share some sliced brisket and listen to the music there. Well when I was reading about this place it said to call and place your order for dine in, carry out or curbside service but David said come on let's go and see what they have.  LOL.. as we stood there they crossed off a couple things on the board menu and the chef walked out saying they only had 2 steaks left. Uh oh!. Now it's our turn... we order some sausage to share because the brisket was gone.  While sitting at our table they came out to tell us that they didn't have any sausage after all but they would give a leg quarter instead, same price if that's okay.

So okay that's fine.  When they serve us we get a leg quarter and they found 4 slices of brisket, plus they gave us their Asian slaw and a dessert. Holy cow! We ate way more than we had planned or needed. They kept apologizing for the error. Again super nice people.

Back to the "Tool Shed" for the night. That's what David kept calling our Guesthouse.

June 12... Where was I 5 years ago... Well I was still living in Tomball and going to the farm to enjoy it while poor David worked at hard at improving the 14 acre farm and barn we bought last year. We were in search of a builder for our now home.

Back to 2021. We woke up and needed food. We drove a few miles into Boerne to Mary's Taco's. It was one of the suggestions on the Guesthouse board. They were packed and so was the parking lot but we found a place to park. Surprisingly it took no time to get food. David was out and we found table outside to eat at. The Tacos were good.

My bad. I didn't write down everything we did so I've forgotten the order. We did drive back up to Lampasas to go to a couple of Antique stores and a couple of wineries. One winery didn't open until 4 and we planned on being back in Luckenbach by then but we did look at some antiques. We walked down the street to have pizza for lunch. I don't remember the name of the place but it was on the square. The service started off rather bad but there was only 2 waitress for the large crowd. Another example of finding people to work. We heard that everywhere we went.  After lunch we drove to Texas Legato Winery. We both had a tasting and might have drove away with a couple of bottles. We had fun there. The ladies there and another couple were entertaining and fun. David was willing to stop at the winery down the road for me but I said we should head back toward Fredericksburg.

We stopped at Narrow Path Winery in Stonewall for some wine but I refrained so I could have a beer or two at the Music Festival. David had a glass and I had water. LOL. We sat outside and enjoyed the view.

It was late enough we decided we need to eat something before heading to the Thomas Michael Riley music festival.  Alamo Springs Cafe was our choice of poison. LOL We split a pork sandwich and onion rings. The guy at the register convinced David we needed a piece of peach cobbler. Food was so yummy.  We found the route to get the Luckenbach. We're ready for some music.

And some beers.  In the words of Thomas Michael Riley.. "holler & swoller".  LOL

That's how our night ended with music. Got to hear some Thomas Michael and Davin James our favs plus a few others. Even had a chance to chat with Davin and his wife Tammy.

Well that's it for now...

Until next post....Packs 2 hours before leaving for a trip. Unpacks 3 months after coming home.

Daily blog prompts with adventures thrown in

Gonna try something different this month when blogging. I'll be using blog prompt question for each day of the month.  We'll see how it goes.

June 2 Something good that happened last week. Well it was actually the week before when my niece Shelby and her boyfriend came for a visit. I hadn't seen her in like 4 years. So it was nice catching up and meeting the man in her life.

David walks into my quilt room looking like a nerd from the movie Weird Science. Remember that movie where the 2 boys create a beautiful woman. LOL  This is supposed to help him while working on the cars. I think he is a nerd but lovable.

June 3. A time I was frightened... hmmm I think there's been plenty of times that I've been frightened but most recent time would have been when I went into Afib and didn't know what was happening and then found out I needed a pacemaker. Scary stuff. All has been good since. I still kinda worry about it but I feel the doctors have a handle on it.

June 4.. A really good idea.  When it happens it happens. I've got a really good idea for a quilt I need to make but first the company I ordered the fabric from needs to send the right fabric. LOL.  I was so excited this morning when I opened my package thinking I'd start cutting the necessary squares only to find 4 yards of the wrong fabric in the package. I only wanted 2 yards of my fabric which was a print. How can you mess it up so bad. I ordered a print and I got a solid. Already got a refund and re-ordered the fabric. I hope to take the correct fabric with me while David and I are out and about to find some coordinating fabric to go with it.  I thought/think it's a good idea.

The wild flowers in the East pasture make for a great backdrop to the critters. Jerry was hanging out at the fence waiting for some attention.

June 5. Books in my to read list.  Not enough time to list them all.  I have a closet full, plus others on my Goodreads list I want to read. I need to read Kabul Beauty School by Deborah Rodriguez for book club before July 15th. I also want to read a book I got for Christmas from Pamela called A Simple Girl by Josh Flagg. I used to watch a show of Million Listings with Josh Flagg and a couple others high dollar realtors. Josh lived with his grandmother who always told stories of her life. This book has compiled those stories. She was a character. Like I say there are way too many books to list that I want to read.

Today David and I took a drive to see antiques at Texas Pickers in White Hall.. David found a sign he couldn't live without for the garden and then we went inside to have a burger. We both ordered the cheeseburger and fries. Dang those burgers were huge. Forgot to take a picture but they were very tasty. A tad too much salt on the fries even for me but tasty. We left here and went to downtown Navasota to another antique store. I found a book and something to make a pincushion with.

From here we headed down hwy 105 to farm road 390 to head toward Deanville.. Before getting there we rain into a torrential rain just outside Brenham. WOW! This is in between wind shield wipers. The road already had water standing on it. Those clouds kept following us around.

In Deanville, we were looking for the Sons of Hermann Deanville Hall and found it. We plan on going there one evening to go listen to Gary P. Nunn play this month.. Then we stopped at a place called Bottlenecks for a beer. It was 5 o'clock somewhere we figured. The folks there were real nice.. This place has live music too. We might have to go back one time when they do. Decided it was time to head home and we hit the rain again in Caldwell. We finally ran out of it but it found us when we got home.

Holy Cow!  Jerry and the cows were all lined up along the fence to the back pasture. Poor babies. Water was standing everywhere. The lower pasture had a lake before it was over. And the pond was getting fuller and fuller. June 6 Something to remember.. The good days with my Mom. The memories Pamela and I make and the life David and I share in the country and the adventures during retirement that we will go on.June 7 The best thing about my day... Was seeing the sun for a short time before the clouds took over.Well, that's it for this post. I'll pick up with the journal post prompts and other adventures in my next post.Until then....In the crazy quilt of life, I am glad you are in my block of friends
