Slow going January

I normally make quilts for gifts but this one I finished for me. It wasn't made quickly or without it's share of errors. I collected bluebonnet fabric for almost 2 years. With my daughter Pamela's help I decided on the design and started cutting and then sewing. Lilley helped too by approving the quilt.

My quilt is now totally complete and on the bed in the Texas Guest room.  Donna @ Donna's Lavender Nest quilted it with bluebonnets all over.  It looks so awesome.

Can you see the bluebonnets quilted on the quilt. Now I need to make a new dust ruffle, pillow cases and some kind of valence for the window.
I think it's perfect for the bed.  I love it.
Pamela's pup Sophie decided she liked a sweatshirt that was on the bench in her bed room. So guess who Pamela asked to fix,..... yep me.  I'm not good at mending but Pamela gave me permission to patch it with some sunflower fabric. I did a sloppy satin stitch to hold it in place. Now I'm going back over the stiches. Not my kind of fun. LOL  I may add some yellow thread for... well because I can.
For Christmas Pamela bought me a puzzle and we worked on it for almost a day and a half then she went home leaving me with this undone puzzle. Uggh. I haven't worked real hard on it since she left. I'll pass by and maybe spend 30 minutes and in that time if I'm lucky I'm able to place 6-8 pieces where they belong.  This darn thing is difficult.  She needs to come back and help me. LOL  Tonight I gave up after 7 pieces and went to drink wine on the patio with David.

We had happy hour for the first time in awhile. The moon came up big and full. My picture doesn't do it justice but it was so beautiful to look at, I had to try.

In case you've wondered. And like everything else this isn't correct any more. Inflation hit quilting too.
That's it for now.
Until next blog post...

Happy January 2022 -

Well many of us survived 2020 and 2021 without getting Covid and others not so much. It seems in the last 2 weeks more and more of my family and friends have called to say they have Covid. I wish, I pray that 2022 will prove to be nicer but it's not looking so promising.
We got word on the 4th that a close friend of ours passed from Covid. I won't post a name since his wife hasn't said anything publicly. Our hearts are broken. We pray his wife and family find peace and comfort during this difficult time.  "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal." ~ From a Headstone in Ireland

New Year's day we had visitors. They can have all the grass they need. Small little critters.  They managed to walk across the cattle guard. They belong across the road but they are escape artists and go visiting.  The white one is Sampson but I'm not sure of the names of the other two.
They were welcome until they headed for the rose garden. LOL David had to shoo them back out across the cattle guard. And off they went merrily down the road. It was almost 80 degrees on January 1st. Crazy.
Now the next morning was a different story.
We woke up to Lilley's water bowl being frozen, ice on the tables & chairs, along with icicles hanging from the back of the benches and the fence rails.
Of course there's a reason for that.

Texas Weather is definitely crazy. It got up to the high 40's that day if I remember right.
Pamela called me on the 3rd to left me know she and a nurse friend of hers were heading to the Woodlands for lunch and Build a Bear. They're so silly. They built Hedwig, Harry Potter's 2' tall snowy owl.
On the 5th we drove to Car Max in North Austin to look at a couple cars on their lot.  I've had my maroon Toyota highlander for almost 15 years. It has 270,000+ miles on it. David thought it was time to upgrade my ride. But to our surprise they have a new priority appointment rule. Yeah so we drove almost 1 1/2 hours to find out that we'd have to wait for about 2 hours since we didn't have an appointment. Adios' we're not waiting 2 hours so we headed back home.
January 6th was a big day for me. We drove to Houston to see a car. No appointments necessary.
Yep this is in the garage. A 2018 Toyota Highlander. So Excited. I got to drive it all the way Home. Of course I had to stop at the hospital in College Station so Pamela could run down and check my new ride.  She was jealous.
Thank YOU David, I love it.
We bought the car from E Auto Link located on S. Hwy 6 in Houston from Maria. It was good experience. There was no high pressure sales, no haggling over prices and Maria was a great help showing me how the car technology worked.  Which I promptly forgot some of her directions. LOL.  Holy cramp so much technology in a car these days. My 2004 had none so this is a big change.
Isn't my car purdy?! I've been reading the manual to figure out what I forgot or we didn't discuss.

Short post this time especially after the final one in December. LOL
