What's for dinner etc.....

 On Tuesday 2/6 David went into Houston for the Bell Gang luncheon and a doctors appointment. For a few months he's been wearing a brace and has had steroid shots in his right hand. He has 2 trigger fingers and the thumb with issues.. At this visit the Doctor said the shots aren't working and it's time to do surgery.  No time to waste. Surgery was Friday 2/10.  David is now supporting a bandaged hand for around 2 weeks. Even though he's left handed it's difficult for him to do some things especially since he's not supposed to use that hand for anything more than holding at most a coffee cup, fork or trying to button his shirt. He's not good at sitting still.

Sunday night (2/12) I tried a new recipe out on David. And yahoo it was a winner for me an him. It's a Cajun Shrimp Pasta. It takes about 20-30 to prep and another 10-15 to cook. It also had andouille sausage in it. I'll try new recipes and they might be okay but this one was a Keeper to cook again. I tweeked a few of the ingredients but not much. So yummy!

Monday (2/13) I finished the quilt for my newest great nephew Rhett in Missouri. He has already made his grand entrance but I wasn't finished. What's new. I went out to take some pictures and the fur babies had to help.  

Even Jerry and the cows were watching.  Bruno laid down close to where Jerry was grazing waiting to see what I was up too and Sadie stood right where I wanted to put the quilt at. Of course.

Woolly Bully had just stopped bouncing along the fence with Bruno and Sadie to watch me.





This quilt was hard to photograph. I didn't realize how hard until I uploaded the photos.

The colors are muted but the background fabric is grey green checked but no matter what I did the color looks blue. Weird. My niece told me a theme of wild things. mmm that could mean a lot of things but while on retreat in October I saw this fabric about wild baby animals and decided that was the one. What I didn't realize at the time was it was meant to be a soft book. Oh well.

 I cropped each block and came up with a layout with the help of my friend Donna Lynn. Donna Lynn is my quilter and we decided on the wild life quilting theme. You can see the bear, deer and evergreen tree. The back color of the quilt came out okay. It's really a sweet quilt in person.  If you double click on the picture you'll be able to see the blocks better and read each one.  

Funny thing about the quilt fabric. My niece had posted a picture of the baby's room and it was so simiular to what I had bought. I guess understood what she wanted better than I realized. I can't find the picture of the room now. Did I dream it?  mmm maybe.

I tried being cutesy Tuesday (2/13) for dinner when I made my homemade chicken pot pie.  Can you see the heart?  In honor of Valentine's Day. LOL

Two dinners in a row that made David's tummy and taste buds happy.  We had to eat left overs the next couple of days. The pasta and the pot pie.

Valentines day was a really nice day. We'd been in Bryan running errands but when we got home we went to sit out on the patio. The pups were so happy for us to come sit outside. They love their furless dad.  You can see David's right hand up in the air trying to avoid all this puppy love. He's got about 6 more days until they remove the bandages and the stitches.  His hand should feel much better then. He'll still have to be careful because I'm sure it'll still be tender but we'll see soon.

Darn dogs.  If we lose them in the house we can guess where they might be.  They are as quiet as they can be... Our last place to look is in our room. They have found they like our bed when we aren't looking.  They figure if they're quiet we won't notice.  

Just as I took the picture Sadie got up and all I got was Woolly Bully laying by the fence with Bruno. Sadie was laying right beside the bull. Too funny. Earlier the bull was bouncing with the dogs at the fence.  Friends

This quilt is a log cabin. The quilt bee I go to decided we'd all do the same block/quilt to see all the variations. 

A few of us used Kaffe Fassett fabric, others did batiks and scraps from their stash. I'm almost done.  

I need to find the fabric to set the triangles and for the backings.  Oh the decisions.
