An Aggie quilt, little ice okay a lotta ice and .....

 

My sister from another mother, Kelli Kennedy received into her family a 3rd grandbaby named Dayton. And as far as Grandma and Grandpa John are concerned this boy will be an Aggie so I made the little guy an Aggie quilt. It was quilted by my awesome friend Donna Moore @Donna's Lavender Nest.

Sadie thought it was necessary to photo bomb my picture.  All the Aggie fabric came from Lone Star Quiltworks which will be closing it's doors on Wednesday the 15th. So sad for us quilters but Happy Day for Terry Skrabanek the owner. She is retiring I believe she said it's been 28 years. Maybe she can enjoy her craft of quilting now that she's not worrying about the shop. 

The quilting theme was an Aggie theme with Gig'em, Whoop, Howdy etc.

        

So on 2/1 we got really cold and rain. Ice everywhere. It's pretty all hanging off the pergola, the trees and fence but not so great for the plants really. The poor Magnolia tree was leaning way over but Thank Goodness it's standing up straight and tall now.

 Wednesday night we're crawling into bed about 11 pm when the electricity goes out. Awesome!  It didn't come on until Friday around 11:30 am.  Can I just say I'm not a good pioneer after 24 hours and 36 hours is over my limit. LOL.  Our friends brought us their spare generator but the electricity came on before they arrived.  YAY.

This is our favorite oak tree in the pasture. It's big and old but the ice was too much for the limbs and they started breaking. There's another oak near the pond that's looking just as bad.  So is our pecan tree up front.

David got the front area by driveway entrance cleaned up before Friday.  

Thursday (2/9) was the Gause Gals Guild book club. This is a fun group of ladies. Don't have to worry about them being quiet. LOL We discussed our latest read "Wherever the Wind Takes Us by Kelly Harms"  We all loved it. 42 year old Becca finds herself divorced and broke.  She had signed a prenuptial. The X did leave her a fancy sail boat that she decided to sell because she hated sailing and needed the money. Well at least she thought she did. She and her daughter Liv went on an adventure by trying to sail the boat from Maine to Florida for the buyers.  One of the ladies had a hard time with the book because it reminded her of her X but after listening to all of us discuss the book she's ready to go ahead and finish the book.  It's about second chances, finding yourself and discovering your strengths.  

I was trying to get a couple good pictures of a couple of the cows to see if I turned them into black and white photos if they'd be good enough to frame to hang next to a barn picture I bought.  I'll have to let you know how it works out.   This Red, she is the momma of the the black bull that I've been calling Woolly Bully.

  

Need to go finish the binding on a quilt to get in the mail to a new great nephew in Missouri. I'll share pictures in my next blog after it gets to Missouri.
