Rock'n K progress and much more

Not long ago Pamela and I drove  to Groesbeck to deliver this quilt to it's recipient Jeremiah.
When I went by the little guy slept almost the entire time..
Now he's giving Momma some sweet smiles. There's nothing sweeter.
His Tia Samara (my co-worker) went up the following weekend to capture the above picture of him and his Momma. And of course she couldn't keep her hands off the little guy.
Recently our friends, Ross and Sheryl with other family and friends went on a cruise to witness the union for 1 their 5 sons to beautiful young lady. They invited us but so much is going on in our life right now that I just couldn't say Yes.  Looked like we missed a great time. We wish this new young couple (Austin and Hillary) many many years of happiness.
So we have this plant well actually lots of these plants/weed/whatever growing at the base of our property. My picture doesn't do it justice. It's kinda pretty and all pinkish and now it's ugly and brown. Next I need to pull one up and take to the nursery to figure out what it is. With the help of my friend Kathie M., I think it's called curly dock or it could be quinoa. I think it's the first.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    In between all the stuff going on with the Rock'n K but we squeezed in time for some music at Main Street Crossing.   When walked in their opening act was Darbi Shaun. She graduated from CyFair ISD. We first saw her  the first time when she was around 16 and now she's a Texas A&M graduate.   She and her music has grown. She was good then and now she's even better.  Really enjoyed her part of the show.                                                                                     Of course Max and Heather Stallings are always great.
For Cinco de Mayo we went to Marquez, TX for their 5th annual Wing Ding Festival. What is a wing ding festival you ask well it's where teams of chicken wing cookers get together for a little friendly competition to see who has the best chicken wings. And the best part you get to taste every single one of them. This year they added a BBQ cook off too. mm mm and it was all so messy. There were some wings with no flavor and and couple were so hot you couldn't taste anything but the heat and then there was plenty of tasty wings.
A few of the booths even shared their ribs that they didn't turn in for one reason or the other. Great deal for us that came through for a test and a vote for our fave. The festival had a car show. Look what I found... a red truck. And there were a few vendors and lots of games for kids.

After wings and ribs it was getting late and it was time to head to back to the farm. We did a few things in the cabin and then we sat back on the porch to smell the jasmine and watch the birds.

Like this momma mocking bird. She has a next built in top of the barn awning. She kept her eye on us. Once she actually landed on the porch railing and just looked at me. I moved and of course she flew off.

The builder staked out the house, garage and car port. Only a small problem....the guy he uses to move dirt was broke down. So nothing happened for a week and the builder went on vacation.  It's hard to imagine that area all staked out will one day be our forever home. Getting exciting.
Pamela had Sophie groomed and of course the groomer Misty @ Top Paw Pet Spa in Bryan had a new picture theme. For the life of me I don't know how she gets the dogs to sit still.  Sophie is a little ham. Kinda cute too.

On Mother's Day weekend my niece graduated from high school.  It's hard to imagine my tiny dancer is old enough to go away to college. Wow.  Here' a picture of her  and a fellow graduate and one with her Aunt Barb.
Was glad to see this family picture of everyone. Was missing my sister Nancy and her kids but this was nice to see. Wish we could have made it up to Missouri.

I know Emily will go far in college and the world.

David surprised me with flowers For Mother's Day only I had no clue where all my flower vases were. Well okay I know they're in a box in the garage possibly so I improvised and used the old watering can my grandmother always made tea in and the one my would use to take water to my dad when he was in the field.

For Mother's Day we got together with my mom for breakfast at Harris County BBQ. They have really good breakfast foods. Lots of choices. We ate good that morning.
David snapped this picture of the Mothers and Daughters above and below.
Me and Lilley..... Pamela and Sophie
Had a great Mother's Day. I know this is late but I hope everyone else did too

So our backyard at the rent house has become the critter nursery. This baby blue jay was in the grass behind Lilley's favorite bench. Lilley kept staring at it and would woof ever so often at it and then here comes momma bird swooping at us. I took Lilley inside and when I looked back out the window the baby and momma were gone.

Did I mention this post was full of photos and almost everything May... LOL

While at work Tuesday May 15th my future neighbor Kerry at the Rock'n K texted me this picture.

YAHOO!
Bubba our builder got a dozier and they started moving dirt. Can't wait until we go up this weekend. LOL. Just to see dirt moved.
That Saturday while we were there they put up the forms for the foundation. Too exciting.
It's hard to capture these little guys but I did my best. I'm pretty sure it's a ruby throat hummingbird.
I think the red throat was my clue. Now watch one of you bird experts tell me different.

They're so fun to watch. We had 6 show up at one point. I know he's tiny but you can see the red can't you?

Ruby brought a few more friends around.

So on the weekend of  May 18th we hung out at the farm while Pamela and 5 of her nurse friends took off for Fredericksburg. The girls had heard Pamela talk about our girl trip to Fredericksburg so they planned their own trip. They stayed at a house that slept 6-8 people. Out back of the house there were baby goats and I think the girls had as much fun playing with them as the did seeing the sights and drinking wine.  While she was gone we watched Sophie and stayed at her place.
Pamela took them to two of our favorite places...Peach Tree Cafe and Alamo Springs Cafe.
I sent a picture of the fur babies saying they missed her. They were ready for bed.  And see what I mean the girls loved the baby goats. Aren't they cute?
That Saturday morning (May 19th) the girls had lunch and jumped on a wine tour bus.
Pamela looks good in her hat she borrowed from one of the girls.  She has always told me she didn't look good in hats.  Not true.

It was exciting seeing the dirt all moved around and staked waiting for a house. And then while there they came and set up the forms for the concrete.
Well I think this blog is way long enough.

So more Rock'n K progress to be shared in the next post.

Hi Carla. I think you are right about that weed being Curly Dock. When my sister and I used to play house (many years ago) we used our bikes as "cars" and drove to the "grocery store" to buy "coffee" (curly dock). When it turns brown it looked just like coffee grounds to us. Love that red truck and my jasmine is starting to bloom also. Sofie is such a cutie and you are having some progress on the new place. How exciting, I bet you can't hardly wait for each trip out to the ranch..Thanks for your visit. Guess this will be how we all communicate until Blogger gets its act together..Happy Wednesday..Judy
