So when all the inside electrical of your car goes out and you take it into the shop again for yet another issue. Since Pamela bought her car it's been in the shop every couple of months for one thing or another. You at least expect to get your car back in working order and put back together like it was when you took it in. mmm not so much for Pamela. They gave her car back saying it was a fuse and it's fixed but when she got home the inside lights weren't working and garage door opener dead. So back to the dealership the car goes. Again they say it's fixed and again they pick up the car. All seemed good until they got home and opened the back hatch. WTH
The hatch door wasn't even put back together! How does the service department release a car still taken apart.. So guess what,,, it had to go back to the dealership AGAIN!
This is just sad. Someone is slacking. But the lights are working now. What a zoo!
Thursday (3/5) was my birthday. My hubby asked me what I wanted to do and I picked a couple of things we both like to do. We headed out to Giddings to go antique shopping at The Whistle Stop and then the Giddings Nursery. But he got me lunch first... Taco Bell. My choice. My eating habits have changed again and I'm not able to eat much so we shared an order of Tacos. I was was a happy camper and I know he was. I was a cheap lunch date.
We didn't find anything we couldn't live without this time at the Whistle Stop Antique store but we bought some tomato and jalapeno plants for the garden at the Giddings Nursery. It was nice just getting out. The crazy thing.... when we drove by our CEFFCO in Milano it's not ceffco anymore it's a Casey's and the gas had shot up to 2.74 a gallon. WTH. Well when we came home 2 1/2 hours later the gas had shot up to $3.14 a gallon. Holy Cow! This is crazy.
So David asked me what else I wanted to do before we headed to Bryan to have dinner with Pamela and Kaleb so I said let's go home drop off our plants and the milk we picked up and then go back out on our way to Bryan to shop at one of my new favorite quilt shops just outside Hearne in the country. It's called The Railroad Cotton Exchange. It's a cute shop and the ladies are sew nice.
For the month of March they are open from 10-5 M-Sat. Yay! Anyway the idea was to get there no later than 4:30 to run in and buy a backing fabric for a quilt top I've finished. Well between a truck with oversized load going 50 in a 70 and having issues going over the bridge and car going 20-30 on the other side of Hearne (good grief) we didn't arrive until 4:40pm. Tina was in the shop and I asked for her help in picking something out. Found it! While ringing up my fabric Christine came out to the shop. I got to use my 10% discount for my birthday. Sorry can't show the quilt or the backing for now since it may become a gift. The shop has lots of pretty fabric, rulers and notions. If you're doing the Texas Shop Hop make them one of your stops.
Well it was after 5 and I didn't want to hold them up any longer and I needed to get to Bryan. The ladies told me it's okay the traffic isn't too bad getting home. LOL Christine lives about 25 steps from the shop and Tina a couple doors down.
Got back on the road and headed to Kaleb and Pamela's for dinner at Shipwreck Grill in Bryan. Kaleb got the oyster po'boy and said it was great, Pamela got fried fish, David got their $20 Ribeye with fries and beans. We all heard the waiter say Beets and were really confused but finally got it. He was saying beans. LOL And I got their shrimp tacos. Yep tacos again but I knew I could eat one taco and the shrimp out of the second one. The food was really good.
For my birthday David gave me money for a massage and of course fed me and took me shopping.
And my 1st orchid bloomed! It's so pretty. The 2nd orchid is still in the process but the 3rd one shows no signs of buds yet.
I figured I'd kill it before it got this far but surprise. I now have a support for the flower stem now so it stands upright. It's so pretty. My Mom had 3 or 4 orchids and they were always so pretty.
Friday (3/6) is the 'First Friday in Bryan' and our exercise group, a couple from book club and a couple other ladies all got together to celebrate Peggy who was having a birthday that day and go check out the sites and maybe the vendors at First Friday in Bryan. Lisa and I got included in the birthday celebrations. Her birthday was on the 4th and mine on the 5th.

Our first stop was at Hush & Whisper Distillery in Downtown Bryan. It was a really nice place and the drinks were awesome. I got a chocolate martini. It was sooo good. It was like a Godiva chocolate in liquid form. Ina had almost finished her drink and with that bright smile I think she enjoyed. LOL Everyone picked a drink of choice and we sat around laughing and talking. There was 12 of us.

Emily had an inside track to management, Jon Spradley and he gave us the history of the building and a tour that took us to the roof of Varisco Building. It's the legacy that Brazos Varisco left behind. It was a department store and then it was where Bryan high school came after homecoming to celebrate and now it's a distillery.
Even being blown around the picture of Peggy and I came pretty good I think.

That ends the first week of March shenanigans. There's more adventures to write about but I'll stop for now.
