First post of the NEW YEAR 2013

So have you made your New Year's resolutions? I haven't and won't. I'll take it as it comes and do my best each day.

I do hope everyone had a Blessed Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Some highlights of 2012...

  • We traveled to the Hill Country several times and of course had fun each time
  • Pamela got her second degree this time in nursing
  • Pamela got her first big girl job and her own apartment
  • She also got her own puppy
  • We got a pay raise (child off the payroll)
  • Started following several Texas musician and songwriters
  • Went to my first Quilt Retreat @ Cabin Quilters
  • Celebrated 34 years. So far we continue to renew that marital contract. LOL
  • The Pokeno Chicks went on our 1st annual trip to San Antonio for a weekend
  • David became the President of our HOA.
  • The Bell Gang and wives went on their 2nd trip together for fun and relaxation. Did I say fun?
  • My nephew Jeremiah in Missouri got engaged.
  •     Texas A&M first year in the SEC and they're playing in the Cotton Bowl. Awesome year.
  • I'm sure there's more highlights but this is what I can think of at the moment.

How about books? Do you read and what books did you read in 2012?
Here's my 2012 list of books I've read.
  • DragonFlight by Anne McCaffery
  • Dry by Augustin Burroughs
  • Wicked Business by Janet Evanovich
  • Fifty Shades Freed by E.L James
  • Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James
  • Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James
  • Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
  • Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
  • The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
  • The Shack by William P Young
  • The Ninth Wife by Amy Stolls
  • Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
And I'm currently reading Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. No this is not another 50 Shades of Grey type book. This book is a young adult book that was recommended to me by a fellow blogger Amy Dane but when adding the link it says her blog is offline. I need to email and find out what's up. The book is about Stalin's gynocide.

Here's my To Read List thus far

The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery
Sarah's Key by Rosnay Tatianna De
Street Heat by Will Graham/William Simon - personal friend of mine
Blood Red Road by Moira Young
The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff
Cross Roads by Will P Young
A Day No Pigs Would Die by Robert Newton Peck

and many more.  LOL

So until next blog...

You have been a busy lady!!
I'm working on a 2012 recap - which I am having to do in TWO installments! One is my life in Quadville this year and the other is the bits and pieces of our 'normal' life.

I need to read more! I must be getting slower as I get older!

A great idea to recap 2012....maybe I can do it, too. will try.

Thanks for coming by..yep, family gets a tad bit irate if we can't be reached by phone. :)

Oh my gosh Carla, you are such a busy little thing. I am proud of you being all organized, I bet it was nice for you! I agree that it is sure different when the kids are older. I really enjoy watching the grandkids tear open their presents. I actually even enjoyed buying and wrapping them thinking how much fun they would have with them. I hate it when some people can't be with the rest of the family, just doesn't feel right. My sister has had to miss a couple years and it was really just not the same!
As far as resolutions, I am just cleaning the messy side of the basement. I think I have injured my back with all the bending and lifting and going through boxes, but I'm going to finish it, no matter what! I am just waiting for the Hoarders show to come knocking at the door asking to film an episode in it!
Hugs,
Julie

Happy New Year! Sounds like 2012 was good for you....we're Alabama fans so we were very aware of Texas A&M being in the SEC this year :) They did have a good season!
