On Thursday 4/10 I was supposed to be going to book club for our book The Boyfriend by Frieda McFadden but instead I was stuck at home recovering from the emergency gallbladder surgery. Fun. I had already texted Kelli from the hospital after the surgery and put her in charge. LOL. She's a good partner in crime or in this case Co-captain of the book club. If you like to read and haven't read this book you need too. By the time you think you know the killer here comes a twist and then another. The ending blew us all away.
While recovering and sitting in my chair I finished hand stitching the binding on a quilt top that my friend Donna Moore at Donna's Lavender Nest did the quilting on and shipped it back to me. This quilt is for Mary Beth from 57 Bloom the florist from Pamela's Wedding. She and Pamela hit it off from the first time they met plus she did a beautiful job at the wedding. She was very pregnant the day of the wedding. She had about 2 more weeks left before Tucker would make his grand entrance. The quilt pattern is called Dancing Bears and the quilting theme is called Yippee Ki Yay. You can see the boots, stars and hat in the close up.
And of course Jerry photo bombed the picture and needed loves. I'm sure he can't wait for the twins to come up to get tons of carrots soon. Of course he has to share those carrots with Killian. LOL. One bite for Killian and one bite for Jerry. Since I was going to be in town on Tuesday (4/15) Pamela and I drove down the road to Anderson and delivered the quilt. We might have had lunch at Juan & Linda's Mexican Restaurant. Eating has been interesting. For some reason several foods still aren't tasting right or no real taste. Ba hum bug. But the quesadilla's tasted pretty good. We missed Mary Beth at the shop, 57 Bloom. But Mary Beth sent a text later saying Thank you and she loved it.
Since I was getting out of the house after 8 days of recovery I made my outing count and got my nails done. They needed some fresh polish and a trim. They felt better too when finished.
After our nails we went back to Pamela's and I took a nap because I figured I'd stick around and go to Killian and Braxton's Tball game before going home. The nap did me good.
Killian was in the outfield and one of the coach's yelled for Killian to be ready and Killian doesn't say anything but gives a thumbs up. It was cute because every time one of coach's gave him a direction Killian would give him a thumbs up.
Way to hustle Braxton. His little team mate watched on as Braxton ran to get the ball. It's either no one, one team member or a pile up to get the ball. It's funny but they'll get the hang of it eventually.
On Monday 4/21 I went in for my surgery post op appointment with the PA in the surgeon's office. I'm doing good and the PA released me with No restrictions. I can add back lifting over 20# but not to go crazy and try lifting 50 right away. No problem there and food shouldn't be a problem really. The metallic taste I've had with most food the last 12 days is slowly going away and doctor figures it might have been the pain meds but who knows. I was told to be ware of foods that are greasy or high in fat because they might upset my stomach. But I've been released. Yahoo.
The other doctor in this group also does bariatric surgeries, Dr Tumlinson. He was the first doctor I met while waiting for my gallbladder surgery and at that time he wasn't sure if he'd be the one to do my emergency surgery or Dr Jordan. It was Jordan. He was the doctor that did Pamela's gallbladder surgery back in February..
I liked Dr Tomlinson and asked about coming to him for my bariatric surgery follow ups instead of driving two hours to the Woodlands and he said sure. So I called in and got an appointment to change to him. This will put all my doctors in the Scott & White system in College Station. Yay.
And you know the weird thing is that my doctor from the Woodlands who requested the Gallbladder Ultrasound that I called but
- Never got to talk to after my first attack on Saturady (4/3) and told them the results were posted on the My Chart app and that I did have gall stones. I was told they'd call back
- Never got to talk with them after my 2nd attack. The receptionist called Tuesday morning while I'm laying in the ER saying they just got the results. I told her they were too late that I was laying in the ER waiting on emergency surgery.
- Now my thoughts were that at some point in time they'd call and check on me. Nope. That's okay now since I'm switching my services to College Station.
I still need to call them to cancel an appointment they made for me for September. I'll do it eventually. Maybe when I cancel my appointment they'll call. Doubt it.
On April 24th Pamela and I originally had our Mother-Daughter trip planned to Fredericksburg but since we just had a wedding etc. we decided to save our money this year and stay home. Well sorta. Pamela decided that since we weren't going anywhere that I could come help her tape and paint her bathrooms. OH FUN! NOT!. But the sweet Momma I am I went and stayed Thursday-Saturday to help her. We got most everything removed and taped Thursday afternoon and started painting. Kaleb taped a ceiling light that I couldn't get down and neither could he and he painted the ceiling.
We did have to stop and clean ourselves up so we could go to the boys Tball game. About 20 minutes before we were to leave it started raining so we thought that they would cancel the game but nope. The boys Mom said that the game was still on. So Pamela, Kaleb and I jumped in the car and drove to the ball fields. It was just sprinkling a little when we got there.
And it got to raining a tad harder but we grabbed our chairs and walked to the field. We stood there for maybe all of ten minutes talking when the sky opened up and the wind was blowing. They called the game off. LOL By the time we got back to the car we were soaked even with the umbrella's and there was a river of water running under my car where we parked. Poor Kaleb didn't have an umbrella.
Friday I finished the second coat on the ceiling and finished cutting in corners and painting the walls. Pamela was still unloading and taping the master. The ceiling in there is 10'. Too high for me anyway. Maneuvering around cabinets, shower stall and big tub and we only had a 6' ladder.
Saturday I did a second coat on walls. Pamela helped me around the tub in the guest bath. She had some touch up to deal with after I left but her and Kaleb did that plus cleaned things up and put all the decor back, switch plates, lights and the towel bars back up. Looks really nice. I guess I should have taken a picture.. OOPs.
Pamela did get the master bath toilet area painted after Chelsie loaned them her 8' ladder. Now they need to figure out how to reach the dressing area.
Monday (4.28) the boys had another Tball game so David and I drove down to watch. It's fun to watch the guys and gals learn the game. They're all so cute.
All the Dads that are coaching have lots of patience. The boys are getting hits off the coach's pitch. Killian got a good hit here. Braxton got a good hit too.
Run
Run boys run!
Killian is ready in the out field. And then he's hungry. He starts chewing on his glove.
Braxton is ready for the ball coming his way down 1st baseline.
David had fun watching the game. We were both surprised when a foul ball was hit over the 3rd base line and almost hit us. It was one of the little girls on their team. She can throw too.
Well that pretty much rounds out the month of April. Other than 1 more doctor appointment with the Bariatric doctor that I'm changing over to for my follow ups or any problems. I go back in 6 month to establish my care. He'll check on my progress and see how I'm doing. I like this guy and his staff are really nice.
That's it for now..
Until next blog....“It is
