It's all about US. 46 years and still chugging along

Yep 46 years of marital bliss as David always tells everyone.  LOL  We never dreamed
of living
on a farm with cows and a donkey.
Plus a couple of over grown lap dogs but here we are on the Rock'n K. And to be honest we wouldn't want to be anywhere else and I personally am glad I'm here with him.  He left the house on the pretense he needed gas for the mower and he did but he also came home with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and they smell really good. He did good.

Sunday (9/1) evening we went to Rockdale to Joe's Italian Restaurant for dinner. It was really good. Our waiter remembered me from our book club. Oh No!  The group might have been a little rowdy that night. LOL  Anyway David got his favorite chicken parmigiana with pasta and I got a chicken and shrimp albaneze. We came home with lots of left overs. I had enough left over for 2 meals.

Monday (9/2) It's hard to believe that we go married 46 years ago. Oh sure there were ups and downs and every which way but we created lots of memories and a beautiful daughter. I was a nice wife and made eggs benedict for breakfast. We were in Colorado on a ski trip the first time we ever ate eggs benedict. We've tried at different places and some were and some were not but luckily I found a good recipe and make it ever so often.  David was a happy boy.

So we decided to go to out for a drive to Walburg to find dessert. LOL It wasn't about lunch, it was all about the dessert. By the time we got to Dales Essenhaus David said he was hungry and asked about maybe sharing the lunch special of fried chicken. That worked because I wasn't real hungry plus I wanted to save room for the peach cobbler with ice cream.  ohhh so yummy.  The fried chicken and definitely the peach cobbler.
Another year down and many more to annoy and love each other. Here's we go. LOL

A great ending for our date night. LOL Nothing but the best... A visit to WalMart. LOL Awww life in a small town. Gotta love it and we do!

So John and Kelli are building a new home on their property. They leaving their furniture in the small home for guests/family when they come up to visit so they are buying so new furniture for the new house and she asked me to come with her to shop.  OOOOoo fun I get spend someone else's money. But before all that fun shopping we stopped at Oscar's General store for lunch. I've never had their hamburgers but they had small size and that's what we both got.  Yum Yum. Cooked and seasoned just right.  Now off to shopping.  She had an idea of what she wanted and we had lots of couches to sit on and test. Get this one of the couches talked. When you turned on the power to the usb ports and cup hoder device it said POWER ON in a smooth female voice.  I kinda jumped not gonna lie. I wasn't expecting that.  I texted David that I found the perfect couch and recliners. They had a lumbar support button. Yeah I don't need to be shopping for anything. LOL  I was there for emotional support for Kelli.  Not sure how well I did. I'm waiting now for the final decision on which couch they got.  We found two but you know how decision will kill us.  John went back with her to put the signature on the final decision and buy.  LOL  Good Luck on whatever they buy because I know it will be great and be very comfy.

I'm getting closer to being caught up with my 2024 color block challenge. I'm working on July now, but January thru June are finished.

Moving along. Most Challenges I start but never complete. But this time I am determined to complete.
Well that's it for now...
Until next blog post...    “An anniversary reminds us that our marriage made it so far because it is strong, good and worth fighting for.”

Fun Fun in the Sun and Anniversary Celebrations begin

Kaleb, Pamela and the boys went to Hockley to hang out with the O'Briens for the day to have some fun in the sun (8/17)  And you know the boys just hated swimming with friends. Braxton and friend Connor in the spa.

Pamela and Marlaina have been friends since elementary school. So the adults enjoyed their time too.
Killian had lots of fun on the slide. That's Thomas in the water. He's Connor's big brother. I miss having a pool but I don't miss the upkeep.
On Monday the 19th I went to my sewing bee in Cameron. Caught Judy trying to work on her quilt top. Then I snapped a picture of Colleen and Tammy. Tammy is working hard trying to finish up all her wonky stars. I still need to finish mine too.

I love Colleen's pillow case she made. Another project I need to start and complete. I better get busy. And Colleen shared her sweet quilt top she finished for I believe her grand daughter.

Our book club started reading the book It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover. Then someone sent out a text that maybe we should read it fast and go to Lunch then go see the movie. Well 6 of us finished and went to see the movie with Blake Lively. If we hadn't read the book the movie would have been fine but since we did read the book it was just okay.  The book was about trauma and domestic violence and helps put perspective on why women tend to stay in abusive relationships. Don't judge these women until you walk a mile in their shoes.  The movie just skimmed over the domestic violence and left several parts of the book out and changed the ending.  But us ladies had fun on our outing.

David and I are about to be married for 46 years. Damn that's a long time. We started our celebration at the Wilson Valley Mercantile & Distillery in Little River Academy. We saw an ad for steak night and we said let's go. David had a spicy whiskeyrita and I had a white russian. All made with their liquor. Very tasty. We behaved and only had one each. LOL In fact I had to bring mine home because I couldn't finish it if I wanted to eat. And oh yes I wanted to eat. The steaks were so tender, it was like biting into butter, the green beans were seasoned just right and a baked potato. There was salad too but I gave mine to David. Lettuce seems to sit in my stomach like concrete so it's not worth eating even though I like salads. There was a young man singing and I don't remember his name but he was pretty good.

We enjoyed the evening.
I'm coming along with my blocks for the 2024 Color Challenge by Patterns by Jen. I now have January though May.

January

February
March

April

The newest block was May in yellow. I'm catching up. I've got June cut out. This is the first time I've actually done a challenge like this. Usually I have good intentions of doing a challenge or sew along but never actually start it. Yay for me.
So I did a thing Saturday (8/31). It was time to get my hair colored now that I've started doing that again and I needed my layers shaped up. When I texted my stylist I asked if he thought I could add some red. He said sure but I kinda forgot to say I wanted it to be more auburn and blended. LOL My error in the way I communicated my desire for red in my hair.
So it's not a firetruck red or massey ferguson tractor red but it's red.
It's fun, It's different and I actually like it.
Now David, he's not so sure and Pamela goes that can be fixed by the time the wedding comes around, right? LOL
The funny part is that in our house lighting it almost looked purple but it is a red.  So are you ready..................

One thing about it... I'm not a white haired grandma or mistaken for the mother of my friend. So ha!

Wanted to say Thank you to another unknown commenter on the "What's that old saying. "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing."

The month of August sure flew by. Dang.
